Kenya’s Bond Platform to Reduce ’Liquidity Premium’ on Yields

Kenya’s automated platform for bonds may boost trading and gradually reduce the “liquidity premium” on yields, giving the instruments more appeal, Nairobi Stock Exchange chief Peter Mwangi said.
The system will “enhance liquidity”, making the bond market “more attractive as a source of capital to both large and smaller issuers,” Mwangi, the bourse’s chief executive officer, said in an e-mailed response to questions. “We are thus working towards encouraging more issuers to issue bonds.”
