Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe on Sri Lanka’s debt standstill and recovery

Following an economic crisis, the first debt standstill in its history and the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Sri Lankan economy is in need of a reset. Nandalal Weerasinghe, governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, joins OMFIF to chart the path of recovery in 2023. He discusses the economic outlook, the International Monetary Fund rescue package and reforms, as well as the successful easing of inflation from a high of nearly 70%.
