Improving public debt management through a policy dialogue with debt managers from a wide range of member and non-member OECD countries is the principal objective pursued by the OECD-Italian Network for Public Debt Management in Emerging Markets (hereafter PDM Network).
The specific focus is on debt management practices and techniques and the related government securities markets. At OECD level, outreach activities and policy dialogue with debt managers from non-member countries is an integral part of the Working Party on Debt Management's work programme.
The PDM Network provides an additional feature of multilateral co-operation in the area of public debt management, by offering participants from OECD and emerging markets continuous on-line access to the WPDM leading practices and experience and to a large number of documents concerning public debt management.
The Website of the PDM Network plays a major supporting role in carrying out the WPDM outreach activities by spreading the Working Party's pool of information.
At times, the Network also contributes to the annual OECD Global Forum on Public Debt Management.
The Network is potentially also a very useful tool to reduce some of the burden of bilateral contacts between OECD DMOs and their counter-parts from emerging markets, in particular, by providing efficient access to information on OECD debt policies and practices and emerging market debt problems and issues.
