Government cash management: good – and bad – practice
This paper, after defining cash management, suggests why it is important and outlines the wider policy context; identifies some international models drawn from the experience of more developed countries; and then discusses some issues more relevant to developing or emerging countries. The aim is to clarify the policy issues and assist the decision making process particularly in those countries who have identified the need for reform. The paper identifies poor practice – but although good practice has a number of common characteristics, there is no single best practice model; that will depend on the local context and the wider policy approach (extract).
