Our recent Climate Business Report found that more than $1 trillion in investment is already flowing into climate-related projects every year. Yet trillions more are needed. That’s why finding new avenues for green financing is a key priority at IFC, the largest global development organization working with the private sector in emerging markets. The good news is that climate change is not only an environmental menace but also a tremendous business opportunity. Climate action generates natural capital, opening the way to billions of dollars of investments and profitable ways to help protect the planet. In fact, we are living in the decade of green bonds, generating financing from the private sector for renewable energy – solar, wind and biomass – energy efficiency, green buildings and other eco-friendly projects.
