External Debt Statistics and the World Bank Debtor Reporting System (DRS)- Enhancing Greater Transparency and Sustainability – Blended

This joint IMF/World Bank (WB) course intended to provide participants with a thorough understanding of the international standards for the compilation of EDS presented in the 2013 EDS: Guide for Compilers and Users, and the World Bank’s Debtor Reporting System (DRS). It emphasizes accurate compilation, reporting, and analysis of external debt data, and highlights the role of debt transparency in sound policymaking and financial stability. Participants will learn how to apply the conceptual framework for the compilation of EDS following the 2013 EDS Guide, implement the updated DRS framework, and align national practices with international statistical standards. The program will also focus on strengthening the quality, coverage, and timeliness of debt data. The course will run in a blended format, consisting of two compulsory components. Selected participants will first complete three mandatory short online learning segments during December 15 – January 16, 2026. The in-person component of the course will be held at the Joint Wien Institute (JVI) in Wien during January 26 – February 6, 2026. Successful completion of both the online and in-person components is required in order to receive the course certificate.
