The EU plans to reach an agreement on a mechanism to provide increased support for Ukraine in December in order to secure new IMF funding.

The EU must offer Ukraine “credible” financial guarantees that will unlock additional IMF support for Kyiv, said European Commissioner for the Economy, Valdis Dombrovskis. He discussed Ukraine’s $65B financing gap and its military needs with IMF Chief Kristalina Georgieva. The IMF approved a $15.6B lending program for Ukraine in 2023.
