Emerging Macrofiscal and Governance challenges and opportunities in Developing Asia and the Pacific
Despite phenomenal economic and social progress in Asia and the Pacific in the last half century, further improvements in the macrofiscal and governance domains could be made. This study considers the various issues and challenges facing 34 developing member countries (DMCs) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in strengthening public sector management and governance (PSMG). The primary question posed is: What macrofiscal and governance challenges do DMCs currently face, and how can these be addressed in a manner that is consistent with individual country contexts? Primary Concepts Discussed Using a systems perspective on macrofiscal and governance considerations, the study homes in on a whole-of government approach to enhance policy coherence and account for trade-offs, among others.
